Becky & George’s Wedding at Abel’s Harp

Wedding Photographer Shropshire

A gorgeous early summer Thursday in May 2019, saw the wedding of Becky and George at Abel’s Harp, near Shrewsbury, Shropshire. I had the pleasure of working alongside Jordan Fox Photography second shooting their super chilled special day, and what a day it was! A gathering of friends and family at a gorgeous remote location, plenty of food and drink and TONS of summer fun!

Abel’s Harp is a quirky country venue based in the beautiful  South Shropshire hills. It was established in November 2012, and benefits from what is possibly the most dramatic location in the West Shropshire area. Situated on high ground overlooking the Welsh hills, the panoramic views enjoyed from it are an absolute delight. Abel’s Harp takes its name from Abel Woodus, a character who famously plays a harp in Mary Webb’s ‘Gone to Earth’ .

We certainly lucked in with the weather as clear blue skies were forecast and warm 20 degree temperatures made it a gorgeous day to work outside. My day started started with groom prep upstairs at the venue,  few early drinks as the boys enjoyed plenty of banter before heading outside for some pre-wedding cigars! Jordan was shooting the bridal side as we made our way up the hill to the ceremony. The views at the top were breathtaking with guests slowly making their way up to the top, drinks in hand ready to see George and becky make it official. After a perfect ceremony and a few portraits/group shots at the top, it was back down to venue to have ice-creams, drink and enjoy the early summer sunshine! my photo’s tell the story but the afternoon tea in the quaint, vintage tea room made for a perfect wedding breakfast setting.

As the sun started to go down, we found the perfect location for some extra portraits with the rolling Shropshire hills behind and a perfect yellow buttercup field to give that super summery vibe. The day closed with a beautiful first dance, a party dance floor and a lovely hog roast (which I managed to sample!). It was such a laid back and chilled day and as the sun went down over the Shropshire Hills, drinks flowed and guests danced the night away.
